What is Empathic Leadership?

“The ability to sense what someone else is feeling or experiencing and then adjusting your communication style to ensure they feel heard, seen, respected, and understand why certain decisions are being made.”

What skills or competencies did you enhance through the coaching process?

“I've learned to quickly identify people's natural communication preferences and adapt mine to the person I need to engage with. I have learned that I can't only communicate in a way that is natural and comfortable to me. I have learned when it is important for me to take on characteristics of other DISC styles. For example, I now know when I have be more D style: Be decisive and quick to make decisions that move me/us toward a goal.”

Share an example of a goal that you have realized as a result of coaching.

“I launched my own founders coaching practice. Michael's coaching program built my confidence and gave me the skills needed to make sure I maintain the high level of activity necessary to have a sustainable business model."

What do professionals need to start anticipating as the change needed to be a strong leader?

“The change needed is an awareness and willingness to adapt your communication style based on the person in front of you. As a leader you have to be willing to make yourself uncomfortable, to communicate in a way that allows someone to truly hear you.”

Describe Michael Sgro as a professional coach.

“Michael builds a relationship on trust and authenticity, and because of that there's a level of vulnerability in each session that really allows you to truly see yourself. You have to have that environment for self-reflection to occur. Only when we truly see ourselves, can change really happen. Michael creates that environment.”
