Michael Sgro, CPBC was approved recently to join both the United Way of Central New York, as well as, the national board for Campus Pride. Both groups give back to the communities that Coach Sgro loves and is passionate about serving, local residents and LGBTQ youth across the country.
"I am freaking ready to serve. It is in my nature to help and if a groups ask, the answer is always a huge YES!." exclaims Coach Sgro.
The United Way of Central New York, Inc., is an innovative and collaborative local nonprofit organization that drives solutions to the most pressing human service community needs of Central New York. Through our advocacy and relevant leadership, we provide options for impactful giving and we fund programs and initiatives that help create a thriving community. Campus Pride represents the leading national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students. The organization is a volunteer-driven network “for” and “by” student leaders. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBTQ and ally students on college campuses across the United States.
Coach Sgro is no stranger to volunteerism, philanthropy or nonprofits. He served five years as an Executive Director of a million dollar nonprofit alumni association, board member of his alumni association, President of Sustainability and Scholarships, board member of the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and spent hundreds of hours of volunteer service for groups like Believe in Syracuse (photo above), Downtown Syracuse Committee, Le Moyne College, Forty Below: It's All Here Campaign and so many more organizations while living in New York City. He has also conducted over 50 presentations in marketing for the Association for Fundraising Professionals across New York State.
