About the event
The Youth Leadership Institute Summer Program brings upbeat youth together to engage in the topics that will matter most in our adult lives. This program will be a deep dive into effective communication, team work, collaboration, individual expression, empathy, resilience and an exclusive opportunity to get uncomfortable to define the skills to become an effective leader.

Program outline and anticipated costs:
Students will meet seven times during the summer on Saturdays from 9AM - 2PM. The dates are June 29, July 13, 20, 27, August 10, 17 and 24. Breakfast snacks and drinks will be available each morning and catered lunch will be provided by Original Grain. The cost is $550. with half due prior to the program starting on June 29 to secure the space. The other half is due by August 1. No partial refunds for missing any program dates.
Next steps for students and parents:
Those parents interested should set-up a quick consultation call with Michael Sgro to see if the program is a fit for their student. All applicants will have an online video interview and six to eight students will be selected to participate in the program. Interviews start in May and acceptances will be sent on June 1.

- Michael is a leadership coach and small business owner in Downtown Syracuse.
- He has a degree in psychology from Le Moyne College, his certificate in project management from the American Management Association, is a certified coach from the Professional Business Coaches Alliance of North America, Sponsor of Believe in Syracuse, Downtown Syracuse Champion, Board member of Sustainability of Scholarships and member of CenterState CEO.
- Michael had longtime career as a senior administrator in Higher Education including developing leadership training with NYU business graduate students.
- He has facilitated hundreds of workshops on leadership for diverse audiences for 25-years.
